A murder charge against a father accused of causing the death of his youngest daughter has been committed to the supreme court.

Adam Hanbury and his wife Jessica Blinda Polsoni Hanbury are charged with murder over the death of their two-year-old daughter Diana Hanbury in 2022.

Police allege Diana, who is the youngest of six children, was already dead when Ms Polsoni Hanbury took her to Mackay Base Hospital about 8pm December 29.

They further allege the young girl had been unwell in the days before she was taken to the emergency department and that Mr and Ms Hanbury neglected to get her appropriate medical attention in the lead up to her death.

The pair was arrested in February 2024 after an intense 14-month police investigation.

Mr Hanbury was granted bail in June.

His matters were briefly mentioned on Wednesday in Mackay Magistrates Court that heard the case had gone through a registry committal, which had been processed that morning.

A registry committal is the administrative process of moving a case from the magistrates court to a higher court.

Because Mr Hanbury is charged with murder, his case must be dealt with in the supreme court.

The court heard his case had now been committed to Mackay Supreme Court.

Crown Prosecutions now has six months to formally indict Mr Hanbury in the higher court.
Ms Polsoni’s case was committed to the supreme court on October 2. She is also out on bail.
