Mackay detectives are searching for a man who may be able to assist investigations after someone allegedly robbed a bottleshop and said they were armed on Australia Day.

Senior Constable Steve Smith said police alleged a man stole booze from Dan Murphys on Victoria St on January 26 at about 1.35pm.

“As he was leaving the business, the man allegedly said he was in possession of a gun,” a police notice said.

“Police believe the below-pictured person may be able to assist them with their enquiries.”

Snr Const. Smith added the man allegedly fled the scene in a dark blue hatchback.

Anyone with information or who may have CCTV footage or dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
