A Bucasia mother accused of slashing her former long-term partner with a kitchen knife as he slept has been granted bail after spending almost four months behind bars.
Karenna Leanne Morley is charged with unlawful wounding over an incident on December 12, 2021.
Police allege her former partner woke up to a pain on his wrist and saw blood spurting from a wound.
When the matter was mentioned on Monday, Mackay Magistrates Court heard Ms Morley’s bail had been rejected because she was an unacceptable risk of committing further offences against her former partner.
Ms Morley had been in a show cause position, meaning the onus was on her to prove why she should be released on bail, and Magistrate Damien Dwyer found that cause had not been shown.
She was remanded in custody on December 13.
ATSILS solicitor Robin Cathcart brought a second bail application indicating to the court her former partner no longer lived in the Mackay area.
The court heard she was allowed bail with prosecution consent.
Her matters have already gone through the registry committal process to the district court but she had not yet been indicted.
