Police are investigating after a council vehicle was spray painted with vulgar language in a shocking act of vandalism.
The incident occurred sometime overnight on December 13 when the marked Isaac Regional Council Ford Ranger was parked in the Moranbah Town Square.
Workers found the vehicle spray painted with language including “dogs”, “mutt” and “should be put down”.
A tyre was also flat.
An IRC spokesman said the “senseless act of vandalism in the Moranbah Town Square has caused significant damage to public property, impacting essential community services”.
“The Moranbah Council is deeply concerned about the effect this reckless act has on the resources and services we provide to the community,” the council spokesman said.
“Public property plays a vital role in supporting everyday life, and damage like this diverts funds and efforts away from critical programs and maintenance.”
Police Scenes of Crime are actively investigating the incident.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said no one had been charged at this stage.
“Police are investigating the vandalism of a white Ford Ranger at a Town Square Avenue address on December 13,” the QPS spokeswoman said.
“Investigators are appealing for anyone with information, or CCTV or dashcam footage from between 6pm on December 13 and 7am on December 14 along Town Square Avenue to come forward.”
The council spokesman echoed that plea calling for anyone with information that could help “to come forward and contact the police immediately”.
“This type of behaviour hurts everyone in the community,” the council spokesman said.
“Let’s work together to ensure our town’s resources are respected and protected for the benefit of all.”
