A Mackay man accused of creating written child abuse material is facing another charge alleging he possessed videos of a like nature.
He appeared in Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday when the new charge was read to him.
Police allege on September 13, 2024 at Rural View Caspian Walter Inskip knowingly possessed child exploitation material in the form of “computer generated videos”.
The 25 year old, who is from the Dalby and Toowoomba regions, is also charged with making child exploitation material — namely written material — on December 21, 2023 at Blacks Beach. He is already on bail for this charge.
The charges carry a maximum penalty of 10 years jail for anyone convicted.
Police first charged Mr Inskip on September 13, 2024.
His lawyer Rob Beamish, of McKay’s Solicitors, had planned to make a bail variation application that involved a change of address and the remove of reporting conditions, but requested it be pushed forward two days while he sorted out some of the details.
Because of the nature of the charges this case must be dealt with in the district court.
A brief of evidence was ordered and Mr Beamish said the two matters could be married up as they were linked.
Mr Inskip’s bail on the second charge was enlarged. He will reappear in court later this week for his bail to be varied, but does not have to appear when the case is next mentioned in late January 2025.
No pleas have been entered.
