A man was led into the dock at Mackay Magistrates Court after two days waiting in the watchhouse, after being caught allegedly trespassing.

Thirty-one year old Caleb Earvin James Geesu faced a largely empty courtroom on Friday as he made his first appearance after being arrested on Wednesday, May 22.

With the usual arbiters away at a conference, magistrate Michael Byrne managed Mr Geesu’s matter via videolink from Rockhampton.

Mr Geesu is charged with attempting to enter a dwelling with intent, two charges of stealing after a previous conviction, obstructing a police officer, trespass in dwelling or yard, and possessing suspected stolen property.

Defence lawyer Geoff Govey of the Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Legal Service advised the court Mr Geesu had other matters set for June 5 and suggested these charged be adjourned to “marry them up together”.

Mr Govey made no application for Mr Geesu’s bail.

His matters were adjourned to June 5, when he is expected to make an appearance by video.
