One of two cars found alight on the Bruce Highway near Bloomsbury was stolen from North Mackay, police have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to the two fires on Thursday which were believed to have been ignited within 45 minutes of each other.
A police spokesman said crews were called first to a car fire near Lethebrook shortly before 2pm and the second near the BP in Bloomsbury at 2.45pm.
The spokesman said the vehicle at Bloomsbury was a Subaru Liberty, reported stolen from a North Mackay property at the end of August.
He said the car at Lethebrook was a Corolla but because the fire caused significant damage, it was yet to be identified.
Police are investigating whether there was a link between the two fires and are treating them as suspicious.
They are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or have dashcam footage of the areas at the time of the incidents to contact them via Policelink or Crimestoppers.
In an unrelated incident 100km south of Mackay, a man was taken to hospital in a helicopter after a motorbike crash.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the crews arrived at Waverly St, St Lawrence at 1.40pm on Thursday.
She said the man was being assessed for gravel rash and chest pain.
