A devastating fire has significantly damaged a charter boat at a popular Airlie Beach marina.

The boat was docked at the Coral Sea Marina on Thursday night when an electrical fault caused the flames.

Emergency services were called to the marina about 5pm to the blaze which had enveloped the inside of the boat.

The boat was identified as the Boomerang, a charter boat that was available for private hire.

The fire was contained to the interior of the Boomerang but it caused “significant damage”, a police spokesman said.

There were no people on board, and no one was injured in the fire.
