The case against a Mackay father accused of murdering his six-month-old son could be listed for trial later this year.
Baby Beau Bradshaw had spent the morning with his family at the beach on June 2, 2020 before an ambulance was called to his East Mackay home where the little boy was found unresponsive.
It is alleged Beau suffered traumatic brain and other internal injuries resulting in his death.
The little boy was flown from Mackay Base Hospital to Townsville that night and later died on June 4. His organs were donated.
A two-month intensive police investigation culminated in August 2020 with the arrest of Ayden Jedd Bradshaw, who is charged with his son’s murder.
A committal hearing was held in December 2021 and as a result the matter was committed to the supreme court where he was formally charged with Beau’s murder in May.
The case was briefly mentioned in Mackay Supreme Court where barrister Scott McLennan, for Mr Bradshaw, said the legal team was in the process of applying for legal aid “for a particular grant we need”.
Mr McLennan said he had noted there were two Mackay Supreme Court sittings later this year – in October and November – and asked for another mention “so if it looks like it could come on this year”.
Justice Graeme Crow said the October sittings were likely to be completely taken up with the trial for Braddon Charles Peter Butler.
Mr Butler is charged with murdering Jay Brogden in early 2007.
“That means we can pencil in the November sittings for this trial,” Justice Crow said, in relation to Mr Bradshaw’s matter.
Mr Bradshaw has been in custody since his arrest in May 2020.
He has not entered any formal pleas to the charge.
His case will be mentioned again in September.
