A motorcyclist has died in a crash with a truck on the Peak Downs Highway, south west of Mackay.

A police media spokeswoman said emergency crews were called to the location, roughly 2km west of Fitzroy Development Rd at 8.30am Monday morning.

No more identifying information about the deceased has been released.

The location, just before Coppabella, is close to Stanmore’s South Walker Creek mine and the Coppabella Mine.

The highway has been closed in both directions.

Police have advised drivers to find alternative routes.

It is the second fatal motorcycle crash in the region in just days.

Jofarn Tapim, 27, was killed in a crash with a cow wandering on the road in Glenella, Mackay in the early hours of Sunday.

His current partner Phoebe Robinson, who is pregnant with his child, shared an emotional tribute about Jofarn, describing him as “my one, my world”, with a collage of photos of them and their unborn baby.

More to come.
