Mackay State High School goes into lockdown due to student behaviour

A Mackay state school was put into lockdown late in the morning of October 3 due to an incident involving a student.
Sometime after 10am Mackay State High School was put into a state of lockdown following an incident with one of its students.
A Queensland Department of Education spokesman confirmed the incident was related to the student’s behaviour.
“The safety and wellbeing of students and staff is the department’s highest priority,” they said.
“Counselling and support are in place for all students and staff who would like to access these services.”
The Daily Mercury has also contacted police.
A statement from the Department of Education said Mackay State High School continues to work diligently to promote safe and respectful interactions between students and a safe learning environment for everyone in the school community.
