Mackay Covid cases for each suburb released in data set

Queensland sees another record rise in Covid cases

Every Mackay suburb increased its total Covid numbers in the past week, as one suburb edges closer to the 1000-case mark.

Andergrove recorded another jump in cases on Wednesday, with 943 total positive results the most in the Mackay region.

Airlie Beach continues to hold the title for most cases across Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday, but the positive results are starting to slow at the beach town with an increase of 35 bringing the total number of cases to 1221.

Eimeo has 799 cases recorded since the start of the pandemic, which is the second-highest total number for Mackay suburbs.

Mackay Hospital and Health Services reported 298 new positive cases since February 13, with the health district reporting 579 active cases.

There are two positive cases in hospital, while 42 are being treated on the virtual ward.

Cases are being reported in Mackay’s schools after students returned to classrooms last week.

Queensland Health has redefined ‘active cases’ to positive tests in the past seven days, but this breakdown relies on information since the beginning of the Covid pandemic.

There is some positive news in the latest data, with cases rising by a relatively small percentage in some suburbs.

Sarina recorded 354 cases in the latest data, while Seaforth jumped to 284 cases.

The mining towns of Clermont and Collinsville continue to record low case numbers, with 85 and 79 respectively.

Moranbah’s case numbers jumped 10 per cent from 332 to 363.

A concerning number of the Mackay health district’s Covid cases are without a suburb listed, with 1702 remaining anonymous as at February 16.
