Driving cars that cost less than $1500 but won’t fall to pieces on unforgiving terrain from North Queensland to Darwin, 500 teams departed Mackay recently for a true-blue challenge. SEE THE PHOTOS.

Stuart Miles, Riccardo Cerro from Melbourne, with Kellie Aveyard from Yandina, Eddison (now 6) in remission from leukaemia at 2yrs of age, with dad Scott Landells. Sasha and Nick Buxeda from Pukekohe, Auckland travelled to Townsville to get the car they bought sight unseen and broke down before delivery while they were flying in. From the left, Will and Mandy Mann of North Brisbane in their car that uses 500ml of oil / 100km. Will's brother passed of cancer in 2017 and always loved cars where will learned so much and honours him intherally's by having his ashes mounted in the vehicle. This rally is the biggest fund raiser for cancer and funds directly to communities. They love the connection and are in a team with Steve and Jess McLean from Burgengarypictured right. They always had an interest in rallys but particularly in the limited budget aspect. A big reason for this couple is Steves mum passed 13 years ago and it also touches so many.
