Car collides with light pole in Mount Pleasant

A car has collided with a power pole near a busy Mackay intersection, blocking lanes.

A car has collided into a power pole in Mount Pleasant, toppling it onto the road and blocking traffic.

Firefighters were called to a scene on Malcomson St, Greensfield Blvd near the Mount Pleasant shopping centre at about 2.30pm when a man in his 60s crashed his car.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said the man suffered no injuries and declined assessment.

A police spokeswoman said the power pole came down across “multiple lanes” affecting traffic while Ergon energy had been called to the incident.

An eastbound lane is currently closed as crews work to remove the damaged pole and tow the vehicle.

The man was the only occupant of the car.
