A truck driver near a fatal pedestrian incident at St Lawrence, who radioed other motorists in the area, is being urged to come forward.

A 42-year-old man was walking along the northbound lanes about 6am near the Kalarka Roadhouse 13km north of Clairview when police say a truck hit him.

He died at the scene and the Bruce Highway was closed for several hours as investigations were undertaken.

The male truck driver was not physically injured.

As part of a wider appeal for witnesses, police want to speak with the driver of a Pantech-style truck heading in the southbound lanes around of the time of the crash to come forward.

The Pantech truck is believed to have sent “radio transmission about a person on the road immediately prior” to the fatal incident.

Police cleared the scene about 1.20pm on Friday and the Bruce Highway was reopened shortly after.

In an unrelated crash, police are describing a man’s escape from an overturned truck as a “miracle” after he was cut from the crushed cabin.

The truck rolled about 6.30am on Eton Homebush Rd. It is understood the truck was carting tyres.
