A man his 20s crashes off Peak Downs Hwy, into an embankment in Epsom

A man in his 20s has crashed his car in an embankment off a highway in an attempt to dodge a kangaroo west of Mackay.

A driver has landed into an embankment in his attempt to dodge a kangaroo on the road.

A man in his 20s has crashed off a main highway into an embankment after swerving out of the way of a kangaroo.

Queensland police and paramedics were called to the Peak Downs Hwy in Epsom, west of Mackay at about 6.15 this morning.

The driver suffered no serious injuries and was able to free himself from the car.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said the driver attempted to dodge a kangaroo standing in the middle of the road and swerved off the highway.

One overtaking lane was closed by around 6.20am.

The driver, reported to be a man in his 20s declined further assessment.
