GRAFFITI artists have created a sneak peak of the $400m 'active lifestyle' development being planned for the Sunshine Coast by SANAD Capital.

GRAFFITI artists have created a sneak peak of the $400m 'active lifestyle' development being planned for the Sunshine Coast by SANAD Capital.

The team of street artists from Brisbane's Graffiti Murals, headed up by artist Travis Vinson (aka Drapl), joined forces to create the depiction on the shed of the new development site on Steve Irwin Way on the way to Australia Zoo.

The 30m x 15m x 9m  artwork illustrates in spectacular colours some of the exhilarating action sports that Sunshine Coasters will enjoy in the new outdoor haven, from extreme mountain biking to skateboarding, surfing and rock climbing.

"This is a really exciting development for both Queensland and Australia, one that has never been done before,'' Travis, a graffiti artist of 15 years' experience, said.

"We believe that the project will become a major Aussie landmark and we are absolutely thrilled to be a part of this first artwork which gives a taste of what's to come.''

The artists worked around the clock for seven days on the mural which was unveiled this week, stopping traffic and building curiosity with passers-by on Steve Irwin Way.

"If the sheer excitement that the artwork has generated has anything to go by, we cannot wait to see what the final outcome is," Travis said.

Sanad is backed by Dubai-based investment group, Najibi Capital.

The property is located on the left hand side of Steve Irwin Way heading south before the Glenview Par Three Golf Course and has a preliminary approval for a wave park and tourism facility.

Company founder Bradley Sutherland, who has lived and worked in Dubai for the past 21 years, has returned to the Sunshine Coast to raise a young family at Alexandra Headland.

He earlier told the Daily that 2000 direct and indirect jobs would be created throughout construction.

Graffiti Murals has completed countless original graffiti mural commissions, from local cafes and the Pt Cartwright and Peregian Beach Water Towers to the insides of government buildings and major sporting clubs.

"To see our unique creative vision brought to life by Graffiti Murals is incredibly thrilling,'' Mr Sutherland said.

"They are among the originators of the exciting street art and graffiti scene in Australia and have created an uber cool and vibrant artwork that has really made people stop and look.

Our project will be truly one of a kind and we cannot wait to show it to Australia.''

SANAD said more details on the development will be released later this month and construction is due to commence in 2017.
