'Wouldn't move anywhere else': Barty to build dream home

Tennis champ Ash Barty is building her 'forever home' in one of Australia's fastest growing developments and couldn't be more excited.

WORLD number one tennis star Ash Barty has purchased land and plans to build her 'forever home' in the Ipswich region.

She grew up in the area, so it is only fitting that Greater Springfield is where Barty wants to put down roots, while taking on a new role as an ambassadorial role for the community.

"It's where I want to build my future," she said. 

"Greater Springfield has always been my home and will continue to be. I have always lived in the area and wouldn't want to move anywhere else!"

Barty said she was extremely proud to be named ambassador for the Greater Springfield community, where she will working with Springfield City Group on causes she holds close to heart - such as education and sport.

Ash Barty said she was proud to tak on the new ambassador role.

"I'm hoping I can combine my new role, with being the National Indigenous Tennis Ambassador for Tennis Australia, to make meaningful and direct connections with the community including local Indigenous students, and get them playing and enjoying tennis," she said.

"As a woman playing professional sport and obviously a big supporter of women's sport, knowing Springfield City Group has a close association with the new Brisbane Lions Women's AFL stadium also makes me proud to be part of this growing and thriving community"

Springfield City Group managing director Raynuha Sinnathamby said the new role was a wonderful endorsement for the community.

"Ash's down-to- earth nature and team-work approach has earned respect from players, fans and commentators around the globe," Ms Sinnnathamby said.

"All Australians look up to Ash as a talented player. She is someone who is extremely genuine, humble, family orientated and a fantastic role model."

After taking out the Nature Valley Classic at Birmingham in June, Barty scored the world number one ranking at just 23 years of age. She was also recently awarded The Don at the Sport Australia Hall of Fame, the Sportswoman of the Year Award and was named Young Australian of the Year.

She is the second famous Aussie sports star with ties to the Greater Springfield, with Greg Norman having designed the golf course.

"Depending on my tennis commitments, I like to come home and unwind over a game of golf at the Brookwater Golf & Country Club," she said.
