Construction on an upcoming retail town centre in the heart of one of fastest-growing South East Queensland suburbs has commenced, with supermarket giant and dozens of other stores planned.
The town centre, located on Botany Road in South Ripley, will be anchored by a 3800 sqm full-line Coles supermarket and will feature a 140-person Green Leaves Early Learning Centre, a gym and around 21 specialty stores, including a variety of food and dining options.
The 8000 sqm mall, 43km from Brisbane CBD, will also include a main street, which is expected to become a place to host future markets, small festivals and other local events.
The 10-year-old Providence estate houses more than 4000 residences, with a plan to bring more than 16,000 newcomers in.
Federal MP for Blair Shayne Neumann said the town centre was important in delivering essential services to the growing community.
“Today’s milestone is a sign that Providence has come of age with the retail town centre certain to be a vibrant hub and the centre of the rapidly growing western corridor,” Mr Neumann said.
“The Ripley Valley priority development area is one of the fastest growing areas in South East Queensland and the construction of the retail town centre is an exciting development for the entire community.”
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said it was encouraging to see additional infrastructure and a central hub for the community to congregate and connect with neighbours.
“Ripley and South Ripley are among the fastest growing suburbs in Ipswich, with Ipswich being one of Australia’s fastest growing cities. This town centre is an important part of ensuring our newest families have easy access to services, business and facilities,” Ms Harding said.
“Having a vibrant town centre here in Ripley will support our rapidly growing community ensuring Ipswich remains a great place to call home and to work.”
Stockland Providence Project Director David Franklin said it created opportunities for the residential communities in their “own backyard”.
“Our town centres are about fostering a strong sense of community and providing indoor and outdoor spaces where people can connect,” Mr Franklin said.
“We continue to build on our Stockland legacy of creating thriving communities and providing the important community infrastructure that contributes to the liveability of our places.”
It is expected to open for trade in mid-2026.
Following a multimillion-dollar boost from the state government, Ripley Valley will deliver 9100 much-needed house sites.
