Contact tracing is now underway after a positive Covid-19 case visited the CBD store next to a major supermarket.

A positive Covid-19 case visited the Officeworks store in the Ipswich CBD on July 30.

An Officeworks store in the Ipswich CBD has been cleaned and contact tracing is underway after a positive Covid-19 case visited last week.

The store on Brisbane Street, which is next to a Coles, displayed a sign out the front on Thursday morning informing customers the case visited on Friday, July 30.

It reopened at 10am.

The site has yet to appear on Queensland Health’s contact tracing page but a spokeswoman confirmed contact tracing is now underway.

The store was cleaned and reopened on Thursday.

An Officeworks spokesman said it was informed on Wednesday about the positive case.

“A clean has been completed and the store is back open now,” he said.

A Coles spokeswoman confirmed a positive case did not visit the store next door.

Confusion was created on Thursday after Facebook posts were shared among local community groups about a positive case visiting Coles stores in Yamanto and Ipswich.

An ABC story about positive cases in Ipswich which was also being shared was from last year.

Yamanto Central shopping centre, which is anchored by a Coles, moved to quash rumours on Thursday afternoon.

“We have received several phone calls and messages advising us of rumours that Yamanto Central is a Covid public exposure site,” it said on Facebook.

“Yamanto Central has not been advised or contacted by Queensland Health with any such information.

“Please be assured that if Yamanto Central had been exposed and advised by Queensland Health, we would adhere to our duty of care and immediately notify our customers and the community.”
