Two men accused of being in a car that was allegedly stolen and driven at high speed across Brisbane before crashing into a police car and then driven off again have been arrested and charged with multiple offences.
Police have charged two men with alleged property crime and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle offences that occurred across Brisbane and the Darling Downs on Sunday, May 19. The two men - Marcus Fuller and Jar-roo Buchanan - had their cases heard in court on Monday.
It will be alleged two men stole a black Ford Ranger from an address in Teneriffe, overnight on May 18-19.
Police allege in the hours that followed, the car was allegedly seen driving dangerously, including at speed and on the wrong side of the road, across multiple Brisbane suburbs.
Around midday, police attended a carpark in Wedd Street in Spring Hill, where the driver of the Ranger has then allegedly driven dangerously at the police vehicle, crashing into the car, before leaving the scene.
The two male officers in the police car were uninjured in the incident.
Police further allege the men stole fuel from petrol stations on Oxford Street in Bulimba and Bridge Street in Newtown, before the vehicle stopped again at a service station on Mary and Bridge Street in Toowoomba around 5.15pm, where the two men were taken into custody.
During this time, the 32-year-old man allegedly resisted arrest by kicking and punching a police officer.
Marcus Fuller, 32, of Woodridge, was charged with multiple offences including enter dwelling and commit, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and serious assault of an officer.
Jar-roo Buchanan, 19, of East Ipswich, was charged with multiple offences including enter dwelling and commit, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving without a licence, and obstruct police officer.
Both cases were mentioned in Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Monday, via the Toowoomba watch house.
Defence lawyer Michael Corbin said his client Mr Buchanan intended to challenge some of his charges.
These included the enter dwelling, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and one count of stealing.
But he said Mr Buchanan intended to plead guilty to the remaining offences including dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving without a licence, and obstructing police.
Mr Buchanan made no application for bail and his matter was adjourned to May 27 at Brisbane Magistrates’ Court.
Duty lawyer Ryan McCullough requested a four-week adjournment to lodge a legal aid application for his client Mr Fuller.
Mr Fuller was remanded in custody, after making no application for bail.
His matter was adjourned to June 17 at Toowoomba Magistrates’ Court.
