Two men accused of shooting a woman before allegedly trying to shoot another in a violent robbery at an Ipswich bakery will remain in jail after being charged with attempted murder.

Tyreece Patrick Paton, 21 of Kingston, and Matthew James Paton, 38 of Ipswich, both stand charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of robbery with violence while armed/in company, entering premises with intent, unlawful possession of weapons (short firearm in public), and authority required to possess explosives.

It is alleged the duo was responsible for an ‘extremely violent’ armed robbery of the Bun Me Bakery in Eastern Heights on September 5, 2021.

One of the men is alleged to have shot a 40-year-old woman in the back before attempting to shoot another individual and leaving with a sum of cash.

The 40-year old woman was treated for the gunshot injuries, and police said at the time they were not life-threatening.

The two men were arrested shortly after and have since been remanded in custody as their matters have progressed through the court.

Tyreece Paton was mentioned in Ipswich Magistrates Court on November 2, 2022, and the court heard registry committal paperwork had recently been forwarded to the court on his behalf.

Legal aid lawyer Alexis Oxley asked for an adjournment for the paperwork to be processed.

The matter was adjourned to February 1, 2023, in Ipswich Magistrates Court for further committal mention.

On October 5, 2022, the court heard Mr Paton‘s legal representatives were in the process of disclosing their intentions for cross-examination.

The duo remain in custody on remand – at separate correctional facilities, according to the Department of Corrections, where they await their next court dates.
