A New South Wales man appeared in Ipswich court and will remain in custody after being charged over an alleged weekend stabbing.

A New South Wales man has appeared in court charged over the stabbing of a man at a public housing site in Ipswich at the weekend.
Reece Andrew Stewart, 39, appeared in Ipswich Magistrates Court from police custody via video link Monday, August 28, after the incident on Saturday, August 26.
His charges include acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm or transmit serious disease, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing utensils or pipes that had been used.
It is alleged Mr Stewart stabbed Geoffrey Michael Pearce, also 39, at Ipswich House Rental Accommodation on Milford St, Ipswich.
It is alleged Mr Stewart allegedly used a kitchen knife to stab Mr Pearce in the back.
Mr Stewart was also allegedly found by police with cannabis, a grinder and a water pipe during his arrest.
Mr Pearce was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital, and he remains in a critical but stable condition.
Mr Stewart did not make an application for bail.
He will remain in custody, to reappear in Ipswich Magistrates Court via video link on September 15.
