Respect for all creatures great and small

No animal deserves to die for something as frivolous and unnecessary as momentary tastebud pleasure

I HEARTILY applaud the members of the Brisbane Animal Save group who recently took part in the vigil for animals at a Dinmore slaughterhouse (Activists halt cattle truck, QT 06/02).

It must have been absolutely heartbreaking for them, knowing the suffering and terror these innocent animals were about to face, yet being unable to do absolutely anything to help them.

It was a chance encounter with a truckload of slaughter-bound cattle 40 years ago that started me on the road to vegetarianism.

If you eat meat, please open your eyes and your hearts and, as Amanda Holly says, see the animal not just the product.

No animal deserves to die for something as frivolous and unnecessary as momentary tastebud pleasure.
