Record-breaking Winx simply the greatest

SHE came, she raced and she left Moonee Valley as the greatest horse of her generation, if not the greatest of all time.

SHE came, she raced and she left Moonee Valley as the greatest horse of her generation, if not the greatest of all time.

Mighty mare Winx did what no other horse has ever achieved by winning four Cox Plates.

Super horse Kingston Town had won three plates but the record is all hers now.

Jockey Hugh Bowman rode Winx perfectly and she responded by demolishing the seven runners that thought they had a chance. That's 29 straight victories and 22 consecutive Group One wins.

What more can this racing freak do?

Reports have her going for a spell (well earnt) and coming back for one more run in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Online Sports Swich

IPSWICH has a new sports online radio show and it starts on Saturday.

The show is called Week End Sports Swich with Bomber. It and goes to air from 9am. Just search West Bremer Radio.com.au and press the play button.

The show will cover only local sports news from around the district like fixtures, interviews, special occasions and anything sport related.

I will try to cover as many sports as I can but I will need your help.

If your sporting club has any events coming up, great performances within your club, birthdays, weddings, births etc then I need to hear about it.

Email me directly on eelfan@bigpond.net.au.

I hope to have you on board on Saturday.

NRL merry-go-round

THE merry-go-round of NRL coaches has stopped and five clubs have new coaches for either next year or the year after.

The only part to play out now is whether Wayne Bennett and Anthony Siebold will switch clubs in the coming weeks.

I can't see how either man can stay at his current club before moving to a rival club the following year.

If you thought rugby league would fade away for a few months then think again. It's now silly season for the players as they are free to negotiate with rival clubs for contracts for 2020 and beyond.

There's never a dull moment in rugby league.

Quick thoughts

HERO of the week: While their male counterparts were absolutely terrible against Pakistan you couldn't say that about the women who are going from strength to strength and remain unbeaten in any form of cricket since March.

Villain of the week 1: Did I see David Warner walk off the field because he was sledged? Is this the same person who is regarded by most countries around the world as the biggest sledger?

Villain of the week 2: Red Bull must act fast to fix the major engine problems or they might just disappear from Formula 1. Daniel Ricciardo can drive but is let down way too often by his car.

Did you know? The highest ever opening partnership in Test cricket is held by South Africans Graeme Smith and Neil McKenzie. They amassed a staggering 415 runs.

Bomber's best: Houtzen ran a good race but he just can't seem to miss the trouble in races.

This week I am heading to the NBL and see the Sydney Kings and Melbourne United both winning.

Melbourne Cup tip: Muntahaa.
