Medical facilities, shops and offices have been proposed as part of an Ipswich development which will already include a child care centre in glitzy Brookwater, just a couple of minutes from the suburb’s renowned golf course.

Town planning firm Planning Australia has submitted a development application for land over 22 Magnolia Drive.

The application concerns three buildings part of a development just next to Brookwater Village shopping centre.

Plans have been lodged for a new use for building three at 22 Magnolia Drive.

Approval is being sought for medical centre, commercial premises and office uses across the three buildings.

The entire of ‘building one’ on the site would be used for these purposes, with the building under construction.

‘Building three’, which is currently used as offices, will also be used for these three purposes.

‘Building nine’ is also under construction with the ground floor being fitted out for an approved child care centre, with the new uses proposed for the second level.

“This proposal is a continuation of development being undertaken to take advantage of opportunities to add to the range of services as needed within the Springfield development area, with the addition of the proposed development for medical centre uses within each of these buildings,” the application noted.

“The site is located in an area undergoing transitional development as a master planned community.”

The application noted Brookwater Village immediately south of the development site already housed medical services including a GP, dentist, physiotherapist, pathologist and chemist alongside a Woolworths supermarket.

“There are existing commercial premises buildings to the immediate north within the master plan approved land,” the application noted.

“Nearby land uses include recreational uses including a golf course and events facility, tennis courts and child care centre.

“This neighbourhood centre forms the local focal point for the surrounding residential areas.

“This proposal for further medical centre facilities, as well as commercial premises and professional office within this precinct will provide additional community services to the locality.

“The proposed use will support the local residential community as well as the broader community within Springfield and will complement other nearby community and commercial uses.

“It is located to conveniently provide for such purposes.”
