Ipswich’s richest, poorest schools of 2023: West Moreton Anglican College claims top spot

New data has revealed the vast income gap between the region’s richest and poorest schools, with a surprise top earner from rural Ipswich raking in more than $149.7 million in the last five years. SEE THE LIST.

Ipswich’s richest school has raked in more than $149.7 million in five years with an average cost per student of $22,514, tightly held school statistics reveal.

An independent analysis of school financial records from the MySchool website have shown the massive amount of money some schools make every year, and how little some schools are forced to scrape by on.

The figures revealed West Moreton Anglican College in Karrabin had a higher gross income than any other school in the Ipswich region.

The school made a gross income of $149.7 million, according to financial records from the combined past five years.

The school’s income increased by 14 per cent between 2017 and 2021.

The region’s second richest school was Bremer State High School, in Ipswich, which had a gross income of $141 million.

Its total gross income per student in 2021 was $15,110.

The school with the third highest gross income was Ipswich State High School, in Brassall, which made $126.8 million.

Its total gross income per student in 2021 was $14,350.

The figures include all fees, charges and parental contributions as well as State and Federal Government funding and any other private sources over the five years from 2017 to 2021.

It does not include any deductions for capital works or debt servicing.

The analysis does not include special schools or schools that did not have complete financial data in MySchool for one or more of the five years.

Maroon State School at Maroon had the lowest gross income of any school in the Ipswich region.

It made just $2.5 million over the five year period.

Its total gross income increased by 74 per cent from 2017 to 2021 while the total gross income per student in 2021 was $32,401.

Warrill View State School at Warrill View had the second lowest gross income of any school in the Ipswich region.

It made just $2.7 million over the five year period.

Its total gross income fell by 9.3 per cent from 2017 to 2021 while the total gross income per student in 2021 was $37,870.

Linville State School at Linville had the third lowest gross income of any school in the Ipswich region.

It made just $2.7 million over the five year period.

Its total gross income fell by 13.6 per cent from 2017 to 2021 while the total gross income per student in 2021 was $34,863.
