Ipswich’s local shopping centres have been a backdrop of some of the region’s worst crimes with one recording more than 1000 offences. It comes as fresh data reveals the most dangerous and safest shops - and who owns them. Full list.

The latest Queensland Police (QPS) data paints a grim picture of what Ipswich retail workers are subjected to as a number of local shopping centers have reported allegedly serious crimes.
Whether you’re looking to move to a new area, find a space for your business, or somewhere to stop for groceries, here’s a breakdown of how much crime has been reported from shopping centers across Ipswich over the past two years.
RIVERLINK SHOPPING CENTER
According to QPS data, Riverlink Shopping Center by far recorded the highest number of reported crimes when compared to other shopping centers.
Of the 403 crimes reported to police over the past six months from the center, six were robberies and 193 were thefts, there were also 31 drug charges, 17 alleged assaults, 12 weapon charges, and 22 alleged frauds.
Last year 847 crimes were reported, and in the span of two years that number jumped to 1400 which included; 108 drug charges, 57 alleged assaults, 130 alleged thefts, and eight alleged robberies.

ORION SPRINGFIELD CENTRAL
Orion at Springfield recorded the second highest number of reported alleged crimes which included a large number of alleged assaults compared to other shopping centers.
Over the past six months 115 alleged crimes were reported to police, which included 10 alleged assaults, 22 alleged frauds, five alleged robberies, 121 alleged thefts, and three allegedly stolen cars.
When looking at the 701 crimes reported over the past two years, the number of alleged assaults jumped to 36, allegedly stolen cars to six, alleged frauds to 62, alleged robberies to 11, and alleged thefts to 438.
The Mirvac shopping mall is central to many suburbs southeast of Ipswich and Logan such as Ripley, Greenbank, and Jimboomba.
Mirvac is Australia’s largest diversifier developer and the investment, development, and retail group recorded a net profit of $565m last year.
TOWN SQUARE REDBANK PLAINS
The internationally owned Town Square at Redbank Plains recorded 121 alleged crimes over the past six months which included 72 alleged thefts, 10 alleged property damages, four alleged fraud, four alleged assaults, three drug charges and one alleged robbery.
Over the past two years, 532 crimes were alleged and which included; 38 fraud charges, 36 drug charges, 31 alleged assaults, 16 alleged break and enters, and eight weapon charges.
The center changed hands from Brisbane based developer Capital Transactions to Singapore’s Rockworth Capital Partners for $160m.
Rockworth Capital Partners is a subsidiary of Sim Lian Holdings who together manage more than $2b in assets across Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore – one of which includes Australian based real estate fund Elanor Investors Group.
BOOVAL FAIR SHOPPING CENTER
Booval Fair recorded 115 alleged crimes over the past six months which included 64 alleged thefts, 17 alleged frauds, and seven alleged drug offences.
Over the last two years, 48 alleged crimes were reported and included; 187 alleged thefts, 55 alleged frauds, 32 alleged drug crimes, 24 alleged assaults, 11 alleged break and enters, three weapon charges, and three alleged robberies.
Retail First’s Booval Fair Shopping Centre has been a central shopping destination to the Ipswich region since the 60s as it was home to the regions first Woolworths and Big W.
The centre’s success sparked more to be built around the country according to Woolworths Group.
GOODNA MARKET PLACE
Easily accessible from both the Ipswich and Logan Motorways, Goodna Market Place reports interesting alleged crime stats.
While compared to some other centres, Goodna Market Place has lower crime rates, QPS data suggests robberies are more likely to happen here.
Despite being easily accessible from the Ipswich and Logan Motorways, the Goodna Market Place sits in the middle of Ipswich least to most dangerous shopping centres.
Although, when compared to other centres with a higher crime rate, QPS data suggests robberies are more likely to occur at the marketplace.
Over the past two years, of the 276 crimes allegedly committed, five were robberies – compared to eight out of 1400 crimes at Riverlink.
During the past 24 months at the shop, 120 thefts allegedly occurred, along with 33 alleged frauds, 13 alleged assaults, eight alleged break and enters, and nine drug charges.
The recently renovated centre, formerly known as St Ives Shopping Centre, has been advertised for lease by CBRE since 2019.
Sydney-based developer Mintus purchased the centre for $30,770,000 in 2018 and carried out a number of renovations on the 1970s building.
YAMANTO CENTRAL AND PRIMEWEST YAMANTO SHOPPING VILLAGE
With two shopping centres back-to-back and a pub nearby, Yamanto Central and Primewest Shopping Village reported a modest amount of alleged incidents.
Over the past six months, a combined 76 alleged crimes were reported to police and 226 were reported over the past 24 months.
Although, when compared to other shops centres with a higher crime rate, more cars seem to be reported stolen from the Yamanto shops, as four were allegedly stolen over that past six months, and 12 over the past two years.
Other alleged crimes which scored high at the Yamanto shops were 106 alleged thefts, 16 alleged frauds, 15 alleged property damages, 10 alleged drug charges, and seven alleged assaults.
Yamanto Central is owned by Kelly Consolidated Pty Ltd which has owned the land since the 90s, while the Shopping Village is owned by Primewest. Primewest bought the centre for $35.25m in 2018.
PRIMEWEST BRASSALL SHOPPING CENTER
The Australian wholesale property syndicator and developer Primewest also owns the Brassall Shopping Centre.
Over the past six months 16 crimes allegedly occurred at the small centre, and 124 over the past 24 months which included 60 alleged thefts, 13 alleged drug charges, seven alleged assaults, five alleged frauds, two alleged weapon incidents, and one car reported stolen car.
Western Australia-based Primewest bought the shops for $29.8m to add to its estimated $5.6b real estate portfolio.
SILKSTONE VILLAGE
The Silkstone Village is another Ipswich Shopping Centre with low levels of reported crime.
Over the past six months 19 crimes allegedly occurred at the shops, and 85 over the past 24 months which included 44 alleged thefts, 10 drug charges, five alleged break and enters, three alleged fraud, and one alleged weapon offence.
The village forms a small part of ISPT’s $20b investment portfolio.
As one of Australia’s biggest super funds, the investment company handles more than 50 per cent of the nation’s retirement savings.
EDEN’S VILLAGE REDBANK PLAINS
In the heart of a newly developed residential hub, Eden’s Village also recorded low levels of crime.
Over the past six months, 12 crimes allegedly occurred at the shops, and 93 over the past 24 months which included 74 alleged thefts, two each of alleged weapons offences, drug offences, and assault charges, one alleged break and enter and fraud charge.
The De Luca Corporation development hosts a Domino’s, Snap Fitness, McDonalds, 7-Eleven, Backhouse Café, and tobacconist.
The $21.5m mixed-use centre is located next to Eden’s Crossing Land Estate which is being developed by Peet.
WINSTON GLADES SHOPPING CENTER
Over the past six months just 15 crimes were reported at the Glades, and 47 over the past two years which is largely made up of theft and traffic offences, although police have alleged there were five instances of property damage, three drug charges, three break and enters, and two assaults.
Yamanto Central owner Kelly Consolidated Pty Ltd also owns the Winston Glades Shopping Centre at Flinders View.
The real estate and development company owns a number of assets in Ipswich including land in the Deebing Creek and Yamanto area including Paradise Waters.
South of the Cunningham Highway, the Kelly Group also owns a large amount of land earmarked for residential development.
