Daniel Sahr Koromah in court for alleged stalking, masturbating, and assault

A man who allegedly followed a random woman back to her Redbank Plains home, asked a court for bail despite living 1km from her house.

A court heard an Ipswich man was on bail for assault when he allegedly committed a “unusual and concerning” act on a woman’s lawn after stalking her through the streets of Redbank Plains.

Daniel Sahr Koromah’s lawyer applied for bail on his behalf at the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday, October 24.

However the bid was unsuccessful.

Police prosecutor Jonathon Waddington said the 24-year-old man allegedly stalked a woman, who he didn’t know, on September 10.

“It is highly concerning behaviour,” he said.

Prosecutor Waddington said the woman thought the man had stopped following her, but when she went outside to collect mail, Mr Koromah was allegedly standing in her yard.

The court heard Mr Koromah allegedly smiled at the woman before dropping his sweatpants and masturbating.

Magistrate Virginia Sturgess agreed with Mr Waddington that if Mr Koromah were released on bail the community and woman may be at risk.

Magistrate Sturgess noted the woman only lived 1km from where Mr Koromah would be living upon his release.

Mr Koromah’s solicitor Dylan Hans said his client’s behaviour was “unusual and concerning” and noted the police likely had a strong case against his client.

However, Mr Hans said in regards to a separate allegation of assault and stalking, the police’s case was a lot weaker due to a lack of evidence and witnesses.

The court heard Mr Koromah allegedly stalked and assaulted a man known to him because of “bad blood” between them.

Mr Koromah, who stands charged with an array of offences including assault, two counts of stalking, threatening violence, and committing an indecent act in public, was denied bail to be remanded in custody. His case will next be mentioned on November 30.
