$3.2m Ripley Valley water park to open to public next summer

A MASSIVE $3.2 million water play park at Providence in the Ripley Valley is scheduled to be open to the public in time for next summer.

A MASSIVE $3.2 million water play park at Providence in the Ripley Valley is scheduled to be open to the public in time for next summer.

Construction will start shortly on the 22,400sq m Providence Splash 'n' Play, which will include an adjoining Adventure Play area.

Splash n Play forms part of the 200 hectares of retained bushland and landscaped open space at Providence, which will eventually be home for up to 20,000 people.

The 670 hectare Providence community is the largest single development in Ripley Valley and is being developed by Amex Corporation.

Near the District Park that has the Splash n Play area and the Adventure Play, there will be a network of bicycle paths criss-crossing the development, so residents can make their way there without having to drive their car.

Providence project director Michael Khan said Ripley Valley's first water play park would feature a dedicated toddler water playground, an older children's zone and space for adults.

"We've designed the Splash 'n' Play water play park with fun-loving families in mind. There's the toddler area with 'wiggly' sprayers that little tots can control, and the bigger kids' zone with 4metre-high water features that shoot water down to the ground," Mr Khan said.

"There's even 'day beds' where mums and dads can relax on the large seating platforms watching their children play."

He said children would be able to cool off as they raced through a maze of aqua arches, "misty mountains" and giant gushers that spurted water towers from the ground.

"As the largest development within Ripley Valley, Providence is creating hectares of active recreational spaces for the community," he said.

"The Splash 'n' Play water play park, the neighbouring Adventure Park and bikeways will cement Providence's position as the community heartland for families living in the Ripley Valley.

"The Adventure Park will be a great place for kids of all ages to explore and create their own games using the cableway flying fox, elevated skywalk with enclosed rope bridge, see saw, swings and a spinner.

"Around 80 per cent of the Splash 'n' Play water play area is covered in shade structures, making it a sunsafe place to enjoy the summer. As well as shade structures, the park is dotted with palm trees, creating a cool oasis on hot summer days."
