An iconic French patisserie in Brisbane’s inner north has closed its doors after nearly 20 years of trade.
Chouquette in New Farm shared the announcement on its social media pages on Wednesday, revealing that they had shutdown in late May.
“After a wonderful journey filled with sweet memories and cherished moments, our French patisserie will be closing its doors,” the post said.
“We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your loyalty and support over the years. It has been our pleasure to share our passion for French pastries with you.”
Fans of the patisserie flooded the comments sharing their disappointment over the closure, with many asking when their final day of operation would be, with the account responding they had already closed.
“We have closed the door since late May 2025. We are sorry for the late notice,” they said.
They also revealed another business would be taking over the Barker Street venue, but did not give further details.
“We are so heartbroken but wish you all the very best for your future endeavours,” one commenter said.
“This is sad news. I will always remember all the yummy treats that you beautifully crafted,” said another.
Chouquette was first opened in 2006 by Lara Keating, before she sold to current owners Fabrice and Meggy Delaunay in 2018.
