A luxury waterfront home has been destroyed by a ferocious fire that took seven fire crews almost two hours to extinguish in one of the Gold Coast’s most exclusive suburbs.

A fire which erupted in a luxury waterfront home on the northern end of the Gold Coast has been brought under control.
The fire broke out just before midday, with three people scrambling to safety as the blaze roared through the Boykambil Esplanade home at Hope Island.
Seven fire crews responded to the alarm and battled for more than an hour to bring the blaze under control before it could damage neighbouring properties.
By 2pm the fire was under control.
None of the home’s occupants were taken to hospital.Fire crews are battling to contain a ferocious blaze which erupted in a luxury home on one of the Gold Coast’s most prestigious suburbs.
A middle-aged man was treated by paramedics for minor first degree burns to his head, while a middle-aged woman sustained minor burns and was affected by smoke inhalation.
A younger man in his 20s declined medical treatment.

Property records show the sprawling five-bedroom home, complete with waterfront views and a sparkling pool, sold for more than $1.8 million last year when it was bought by an investment company.
It had since been rented out.
