A man thrown from his horse while riding on a private Widgee property on the weekend was in “good spirits” as he recovered from serious injuries.
The wife of the injured horseman, Karen Blagg, said on Tuesday her husband Rodney was being treated at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for the injuries he suffered in the fall about 1pm on Sunday, July 14.
Mr Blagg was taken to Gympie Hospital immediately after the incident, before being transferred south.
Mrs Blagg said Rodney had been diagnosed with “six fractured spinous processes in his thoracic region and two fractured transverse processes in his lumbar region, plus five cracked ribs”.
“The good news is there doesn’t seem to be any damage in the vertebral area of the spine,” Mrs Blagg said.
“He is in good spirits but in a lot of pain.”
She said they had received “a lot of support and well wishes from the campdraft community to which we are very grateful”.
