Brett Anthony Gregory identified as Bruce Hwy crash victim

A 53-year-old man killed in a head-on crash on the Bruce Hwy near Gympie has been remembered as a "friend to many".

A 53-year-old Maryborough man killed in a horror head-on crash on the Bruce Hwy near Gympie has been identified.

Brett Anthony Gregory was driving along the Bruce Hwy at Glenwood on May 17, 2022, when his black Audi collided head-on with a red Toyota Station Wagon near Glenwood State School at around 7.30am.

Mr Gregory was critically injured in the crash and rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where he passed away that night.

He was the only person in the car at the time.

A 73-year-old Torquay woman and a 70-year-old Torquay man, who were in the Toyota, were taken to Gympie Hospital in serious conditions with non-life threatening injuries.

A J. Kirk & Sons funeral notice for Mr Gregory said he was remembered as a “much loved father” to daughter, Isabella, and a “loved brother and brother-in-law” to Wayne and Meredith, Debbie and Paul, Darren, Jeff, Harley (who has passed away) and Christine.

He was described as a “crazy uncle” and a “friend to many”.

Mr Gregory was privately cremated.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash, and police urge anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact police.

Traffic was delayed in both directions as emergency crews worked to treat the patients and clear the wreckage from the road.
