Tributes from the community have flowed since the death of former Gympie football and Diggers pioneer and stalwart, businessman and entertainer Peter Teed on Anzac Day.

It is hard to say what Peter was more well known for - his role as a founding member of Gympie Diggers Football Club and football in general in the region, his years of performing at weddings and parties as one half of the two-man band Ernie and His Mates, or through his work as a Mary Street businessman.

However people knew him, they loved him.

Peter died on April 25, 2024 after a battle with leukaemia, and the news triggered an outpouring of love and sadness.

After growing up in England he moved to Australia about 50 years ago and never looked back.
