A self-loving landscaper with a history of public displays has been caught again, this time on a Queensland Rail ride.

Timothy William Ogilvie is facing jail time after publicly masturbating on a Caboolture train line.

A public masturbator was caught in the act on a train on Christmas Eve then missed court because he was having “certain dreams and visions”.

This is what Gympie Magistrates Court was told as landscaper Timothy William Ogilvie pleaded guilty this week to public indecency, failure to appear and possession of dangerous drugs.

The court heard Ogilvie was seen “with his left hand inside his pants” masturbating on a Caboolture train shortly before 3pm on December 24, 2024,

This was “deliberate and sexualised behaviour in a public space” that caused fear and concern for witnesses on the train, the police prosecutor said.

Ogilvie, 29, attended Loganlea High School and also received Centrelink support and was said in court to have “underlying sexual regulation issues” and a history of drug misuse.

Timothy William Ogilvie had “certain dreams and visions” during a bout of sickness, which his solicitor said prevented him from appearing in court initially.

His previous like offences and six-page criminal history were mentioned, including a wilful exposure incident in September 2024, where he was sentenced to 166 days in prison, along with similar offences in 2022 and 2023.

“There is a time and place, Mr Ogilvie, and that is not 2.48pm on a train,” Magistrate Bevan Hughes said.

Ogilvie’s solicitor Babu Singh gave cause for Ogilvie’s failure to appear before court on February 13 2025, stating he had been released days prior from a Brisbane hospital and was “not in a position to make it, he was in a lot of pain”.

Timothy William Ogilvie was also found with a quantity of “dangerous drugs” after his public masturbation act.

Mr Singh said Ogilvie had “certain dreams and visions” and sent an email to the court through a third party indicating he would be unable to attend the scheduled court date.

Magistrate Hughes accepted Ogilvie had been able to show cause for his failure to appear.

Ogilvie was also found with a quantity of drugs on December 24 2024 that Magistrate Hughes said was “not significant” but demonstrated a disregard for the law.

He was placed on 12 months' probation for possessing dangerous drugs, and sentenced to six months’ jail, wholly suspended, for his act of public indecency.

Convictions were recorded.
