A Gympie man faces 177 charges, including 15 counts of fraud, 139 counts of supplying meth and seven counts of supplying drugs to children.

A Gympie man has returned to court on a slew of new charges over allegations he trafficked more than $76,000 of drugs.
Richard James Markos, 29, from Monkland, appeared in Gympie Magistrates Court by videolink Monday on 177 charges predominantly related to trafficking and supplying drugs, including to children.
Of the 177 charges, 141 were newly laid following an appearance by Mr Markos in early July on 33 charges involving drugs, fraud and weapon offences.
The full list of charges now includes 139 counts of supplying dangerous drugs, 15 counts of fraud, seven counts of aggravated supply of a dangerous drug to a minor older than 16, two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of unlawful possession if suspected stolen property, two counts of possessing explosives, and two counts of receiving property obtained from trafficking or supplying.
Mr Markos also faces single counts of trafficking, driving while a drug is present in the saliva or blood, driving without a licence, unlawful possession of a weapon, possessing utensils or pipes, refusing access to information stored electronically, unlawfully possessing a relevant substance or thing, and an offence under the bail act.

These included five new charges related to alleged offences at Murgon.
In a media release on August 2, police alleged Mr Markos “supplied small quantities of methylamphetamine to 123 people in exchange for more than $76,000 between February 2022 and June 2023”.

The court was told a brief of evidence was being compiled for the new charges, and Mr Markos’ case was adjourned until October 9, 2023.
