A stool was tossed at a security guard’s head during a chaotic fight involving two brothers – one in a sparkly red dress – who refused to leave a Gympie pub.

A young electrician became the “third man” in a pub brawl when he saw his younger brother fighting a security guard at Charlies Hotel.
Kade Kent, 23, and Noah Finn Kent, 22, both pleaded guilty in Gympie Magistrates Court on Thursday, February 23, to one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm.
Noah additionally pleaded guilty to wilful damage.
Noah and Kade were at the pub for a fancy dress birthday party with CCTV played to the courtroom showing Kade in a sparkly red dress and Noah in a black singlet and beige pants.
The court heard Noah refused to leave the pub after speaking rudely to bar staff and a security guard became involved.
He stuck both his middle fingers to the staff and security guard, saying “get f---ed, c---s,” magistrate Chris Callaghan told the court.
Kade then poured a glass of water over his own head and Noah picked it up to throw it against the wall.
The glass smashed into some bottles of spirits and shattered, the court heard.
The security guard put his arm around Noah’s back to escort him out when a fight broke out.
The brothers pushed him back into a sliding door and Noah threw a bar stool that struck the guard’s head.
After slipping away from staff, Kade landed a kick before pushing the guard into a counter and throwing a punch aimed at his face.
The brothers left the premises after other men in the pub stepped in to dissipate the situation. They were both banned from the pub.
The guard was taken to hospital with swelling to his ear and bruising.
Mr Callaghan said the victim felt confident in his job at pubs until the incident but now feels anxiety from the stool being thrown at his head.
Defence lawyer Andy Bazzi said his client Noah drank a large amount of alcohol that night, more than he ever had before, and now only drinks at home.
Defence lawyer Lisa Taylor, who represented Kade, said her client was a full time electrician for an airconditioning company was a Gympie Cats AFL club member who took part in the volunteer flood clean-up in 2022.
Ms Taylor said Kade had written an apology letter to the victim on behalf of the two and they had both entered a very early plea of guilty.
Kade’s partner and their family supported the two in the public gallery during their court appearance.
Kade and Noah were each sentenced to six months’ prison wholly suspended for two years and were ordered to pay $1000 compensation.
Noah was additionally ordered to pay $1275 compensation. Convictions were recorded.
