There were dramatic scenes in Gympie Magistrates Court this week as a 28-year-old woman jumped out of the dock and launched herself at the Magistrate.

It comes one week after chaos erupted in the same court in an unrelated matter during an appearance from highway bypass protesters.

Sunshine Coast woman Holly Louise Cheatley faces 15 charges including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, obstruct police, contravening a direction or requirement, failing to appear twice, breaching bail twice, two charges of trespass and two charges of wilful damage.

She was supported by her partner in the public gallery while she made an application for bail.

Defence lawyer Chris Anderson said his client was a former Queensland Health employee who “took a wrong turn” in her life and wound up in custody.

He said if she was released, she wanted to return to her former life.

But when Magistrate Chris Callaghan denied bail, Ms Cheatley bashed on the courtroom dock and screamed “I can’t go in there again” before climbing out and over the courtroom dock.

Her partner in the gallery stood up and shouted “stop it” as two police officers ran to restrain her.

Ms Cheatley made a beeline for Mr Callaghan’s desk and launched herself on top of it; coming within a metre of the Magistrate.

“Don’t do this,” he said as the two officers tried to restrain her.

“Get away from me!” she screamed as the two officers approached her.

Screaming echoed throughout Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday as Holly Louise Cheatley was remanded in custody.

Mr Callaghan then left the room and the court was adjourned.

Ms Cheatley was placed under arrest but could be heard screaming “I don’t wanna go in there” and “I didn’t do anything” and “this is f***ing torture”.

She was then arrested inside the courtroom and taken back to the watch house.

Her screaming echoed around the room and in the hallway.

She will return to court on July 6, 2022.
