One of the defendants, a man in his 50s, has been charged with one count of administering a drug for the purpose of a sexual act, and indecent treatment of a child under the age of 12 who is a lineal descendant, or while serving as their carer or guardian.

Both are domestic violence offences.

The second defendant, a woman in her 40s, has been charged with indecent treatment of a child under the age of 12 who is a lineal descendant, or while serving as their carer or guardian, by exposing them to such treatment.

This is also a domestic violence offence.

No pleas have been entered from either defendant.

The exact relation of the complainant to the pair has not been revealed in court.

Gympie District Court heard on Monday the two matters should be heard at the same time, owing to the nature of the complainant’s relationship to the defendants.

Judge Brad Farr adjourned the matter to Thursday, April 18.
