A Queensland man who allegedly drove 142km/h before crashing into multiple vehicles in a school zone has been charged with 16 offences after police allegedly found him with drugs, a knife and two firearms. WATCH THE VIDEO

A Gympie man who allegedly drove 142km/h before crashing into multiple vehicles in a school zone has been charged with 16 offences after police allegedly found him with drugs, a knife and two firearms.

Police said the drama began about 3.10pm on Tuesday, June 6 when an officer on a motorbike was conducting mobile speed detection duties at Jones Hill.

The officer observed a white Ford Focus allegedly driving at 142km/hr along Mary Valley Road, in a 100km/h zone.

The officer followed the car with lights and sirens, before watching the vehicle turn onto McIntosh Creek Road.

When the officer turned onto the road, it was observed to be an active school zone and lights and sirens were immediately turned off.

Initial investigations suggest the sedan had allegedly crashed into multiple vehicles and failed to stop at the scene of the crash.

No one was injured during the incident.

Subsequent patrols of the area located the vehicle on Judicial Circuit, but the driver had allegedly fled the scene.

He was allegedly located a short distance away with a quantity of drugs, drug utensils, a small knife and two firearms.

Some of the items, including a knife, police allegedly found.

The 32-year-old man has been charged with 16 offences, including one count each of disobeying the speed limit, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, failing to comply with duties of a driver involved in a crash, driving a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence (disqualified by court order).

He is also facing four counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of receiving tainted property.

He appeared before the Gympie Magistrates Court on June 7 and is due to reappear on July 10.

Investigations are ongoing.

Police are appealing for anyone with dashcam or CCTV of the incident to come forward.
