A 37-year-old Gympie region man has been found dead after going missing for nearly three weeks, police have clarified.

Earlier police reports erroneously stated Andrew Davis had been located safe and well as of Tuesday afternoon (June 22), but the Queensland Police Service released another update just one hour later confirming he had been found deceased.

No further details are available at this time.

Police have thanked the public and media for assistance after locating a 37-year-old Gympie man who had been missing for more than two weeks.

Queensland Police Service media sources confirmed Andrew Davis had been located safe and well as of Tuesday afternoon (June 22) after he was reported missing from the Gympie area on June 4.

Police were contacted for comment but could not provide further details about where and how the man was found.

UPDATE Wednesday 3pm

Police have revealed missing Gympie man Andrew Davis was last seen leaving a Gympie residence near the Bruce Highway intersection almost two weeks ago.

Inquiries have now revealed Andrew, 37, was last seen around 2.20pm on Friday, June 4 on Waddell Road, leaving a residence near the Bruce Highway intersection.

Motorists travelling on Corella Road, Waddell Road and Oak Street, Gympie between 2pm and 3.30pm on Friday June 4, are urged to check their dashcam vision for Andrew.

Andrew is described as Caucasian, around 172cm in height, of a thin build, has brown hair and green eyes. He was wearing a dark coloured top, white three quarter length shorts, a grey cap and may be carrying a maroon backpack.

Yesterday, police and SES conducted extensive searches of the Victoria Trails area and surrounding bushland he is known to visit, without result.

Andrew has previously used trains and taxis to travel in and around the area and police are focusing investigations on these networks.

Police and family hold concern for his welfare, as he has a medical condition requiring medication and his disappearance is out of character.

Anyone who has seen Andrew or has further information is urged to contact police.

Police and Andrew’s family are concerned for his welfare, as he suffers from a medical condition which requires medication.

His disappearance is also considered out of character.

It is unknown what he was wearing when he was last seen, but he is described as Caucasian with brown hair and green eyes, and around 172cm tall with a thin build.

Police urge anyone who has seen Andrew or has any information is urged to contact police.
