Police arrest man in Noosa following crash at Pie Creek

A Gympie man has been charged with 13 offences after he allegedly assaulted another man while armed with a knife before later striking two police vehicles leaving a scene.

Police have charged a 44-year-old Pie Creek man with 13 offences after he allegedly seriously assaulted another man while armed with a knife.

About 8.45am Monday, February 17, a 63-year-old Belli Park man was at a Daniel Dr property at Pie Creek, west of Gympie, when he was approached by a 44-year-old man.

Police claim the men are known to each other.

The 63-year-old man was able to get into his ute and leave the scene.

He travelled to Eel Creek Rd where he pulled over and called for help.

Police have alleged the 44-year-old man drove his car into the rear of the ute before he switched vehicles and left the scene.

The 63-year-old man was taken to Gympie Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

About 9.45am, police attended the Daniel Dr address where they observed the 44-year-old get back into the ute.

He allegedly struck two police vehicles before leaving the scene.

Police later found the ute abandoned at Cooroy, before finding the man at a nearby address where he was arrested about 12.45pm.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said he was arrested on Frogmouth Ln, near Cooroy-Noosa Rd in Lake Macdonald, about 50km from where the incident took place.

The 44-year-old Pie Creek man has been charged with 13 offences including one count of serious assault person over 60 (DV), one count of assault occasioning bodily harm (DV), one count of wounding (DV), one count of armed robbery (DV), two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle (DV), one count of wilful damage (DV), one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle, three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and two counts of wilful damage of police property.

He is expected to appear before Gympie Magistrates Court today, February 14.
