A Cooloola Cove resident was heading into Rainbow Beach on Sunday morning, September 12, when she was involved in what could have been a serious accident.

Pam Smith told The Gympie Times she was driving along Rainbow Beach Rd at 100km/h (the correct speed limit) when a ute pulled out in front of her and she had to slam on the brakes.

“I couldn't believe it when she started coming out … it was pretty frightening actually,” Ms Smith said.

“I sounded my horn and another car came out behind me which was their friend and he stayed right behind me close.”

Ms Smith said when they arrived in town, the ute that pulled out in front of her came to a stop on the side of the road and she spoke to the driver through the window.

“I asked what was wrong with her and the boyfriend started abusing me and it got a bit heated,” she said.

“The car that was following me also pulled up behind them and just as I was about to drive off, the driver of that car came up to my window and said ‘what's your problem?’.

“I looked in my rear vision mirror and could see other men coming up and as I was pulling away they punched my car and were calling me names.”

Ms Smith said she drove away from them and pulled over to take photos of their cars, but when she pulled out her phone, she got a rude shock.

“They pulled their pants down and exposed themselves … stupid immature idiots,” she said.

“A couple of people have said to me you should have gone to the police because its an offence.”

The former juvenile detention centre worker has dealt with her fair share of troublesome teens, but she decided not to report the ones she encountered on the weekend.

“I’ve come here to retire and have a nice pleasant peaceful life,” she said.

Ms Smith said locals hde been complaining about a presence of dangerous drivers in the town recently, with many saying they were coming from Teewah Beach.

“They were coming up from Freshwater Rd so they’ve probably been down Teewah … she was wearing swimmers,” she said.
