Maryborough hairdresser and beauty therapist Demi McGregor finally got to have her dream wedding to her now husband, Doug McGregor, at Rainbow Beach last Saturday after Covid derailed their original plans in 2020.

Mrs McGregor, who owns and runs Be Dazzled by Demi, and her husband originally planned to celebrate their nuptials last year.

She said they planned to marry where her husband proposed two years earlier at the lighthouse at Double Island Point, but Covid interrupted their plans.

“Obviously there was a lot of tears from me because I wanted it to happen,” she said.

She said while this disheartened them, the couple decided to hold off on wedding plans until the situation changed, which she said was worth the wait.

“It was the most amazing day, everything went to plan,” she said.

“Someone was looking over us because the tide was right, the wind held off, it was just magnificent.”

The ceremony was held on Saturday, July 17 at Rainbow Beach with 75 friends and family in attendance, followed by a reception at the Rainbow Beach Hotel.

She said they originally planned to get married at the lighthouse where Mr McGregor proposed in 2018, but there was not enough space.

“We decided we were going to have the wedding at the viewing platform at the Phil Rogers Park in Rainbow and just Doug and I would pose at Double Island and get our photos up there,” she said.

Mrs McGregor also said taking the photos of she and her husband was her favourite part of the day.

The couple’s honeymoon plans have been temporarily put on hold, as Mr McGregor has started a new job as a mechanical fitter in Gladstone.

“My husband is a mad keen fisherman, so we’re going to go on a road trip up north with the boat,” she said.

Congratulations to them both.
