Man’s medical episode off K’gari leads to 11hr rescue in bad weather
Emergency crews have undertaken an amazing 11-hour rescue effort off the coast of the popular tourist island after a receiving a distress call.

A man has been taken to Hervey Bay Hospital following an 11-hour effort to rescue him from his boat off the coast of K’gari after he suffered a medical episode.
Emergency crews received a distress call from the vessel about 8.50pm Monday night.
Rescue helicopters and marine rescue raced to help the man, but a QAS spokeswoman said Tuesday morning their efforts were hampered by bad weather.
She said emergency crews were only finally able to reach the boat at 7am Tuesday.
The man was then taken back to land by water police, and then transferred to Hervey Bay Hospital for further treatment.
