House of Artisan expands into old Gympie post office in Duke St

A heritage-listed building in the heart of Gympie will soon house a creative business taken over by new owners 18 months ago. Here is what we know:

A Gympie artisan soap and skincare business has announced plans to take over a historic Gympie building.

Oska + Willow owner Melek Fahey took over art business House of Artisan in September 2020, but now the business is moving into the Old Gympie Post Office building, located on the corner of Duke and Channon Sts.

The business took to social media to announce the exciting news on Friday, April 29.

“Introducing the new House of Artisan HQ,” the post said, accompanied by a photo of the heritage-listed building.

“We’ll be moving over the next few weeks and let you know when the grand doors on this magnificent Dame built in 1880 are ready to be opened and welcoming you in.”

The business was described on Facebook as a “creative space for everyday artists to join and be inspired by artists”.

While the finer details on what is in store for the business is yet to be announced, a series of creative workshops have been advertised online.

Ms Fahey declined to be interviewed on Tuesday, but said the business was scheduled to open after they had finished moving in June 2022.
