A 39-year-old Gympie woman has been fined after items used to prepare methamphetamine, including a butane torch and tourniquet, were found in her car.
Police searched Krystal Joy Stewart’s car on April 14, 2021, where they found a number of items including a pair of scissors and used alcohol swabs along with the tourniquet and torch.
Police prosecutor Melissa Campbell told the court the items were found in Stewart’s bag, and when questioned she said they were used to prepare methamphetamine for her personal use.
The court heard a used syringe and needle were also found.
Stewart, who was unrepresented and had a history of drug offences with her last court appearance in 2019, said the syringe didn’t have a needle attached and was not a danger.
She pleaded guilty to possessing items suspected to be used in relation to using a dangerous drug and for failing to dispose of a needle, and was fined $600 as well as ordered to forfeit all items.
A conviction was recorded.
