GoFundMe launched for Gympie dad Alex Greig after tragic Toowoomba crash

The Victory Heights family of five was travelling to a family reunion near Toowoomba on July 8 when the SUV Mr Greig was driving collided with a truck on Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Rd at Mt Irving. Mr Greig’s wife, Jessica, 29, was killed instantly and their eldest daughter, Giselle, 12, died at the scene in an unspeakable tragedy.

A fundraiser has been set up for the recovery and rehabilitation of Gympie dad Alex Greig, who was involved in a horror car and truck crash that killed his wife and daughter near Toowoomba earlier this month.

Mr Greig’s wife, Jessica, 29, was killed instantly and their eldest daughter, Giselle, 12, died at the scene in an unspeakable tragedy.

The Greigs’ other children, Paris, Oceana and Jett, survived the crash, while son Brooklyn was not involved in the accident.

It was revealed last week that Mr Greig, who was airlifted to the RBWH after the crash with in a critical condition, had stabilised after two weeks in the hospital.

A GoFundMe set up this week by Mr Greig’s mother, Colleen Pring, has been launched with the aim of aiding her son’s gruelling recovery and rehabilitation process which lies ahead.

Ms Pring said Mr Greig had suffered a “significant brain injury” in the heartbreaking crash.

“Alex has always been a family man that loves life and always wanting to live it to its fullest. He has always showed a great love for his kids and allowing them to follow their passions,” Ms Pring said.

“At the moment Alex is facing a long road to recovery after his life was turned upside down, after being involved in a tragic car accident on (July 8).

“This car accident has also claimed the life of his beautiful wife Jessica, his daughter Giselle and leaving daughter Paris in a serious condition and daughter and son Oceana and Jett with minor injuries.

“Now three weeks later (Alex) is now out of ICU in a stable condition, but he is faced with significant brain injury, and will be a long road ahead, with rehabilitation and ongoing support required.”

Ms Pring said Alex’s dream was to “provide a joyful childhood” to his surviving kids.

“I have already been blessed by people’s prayer and support in this time of tragedy, but any money donated will go directly to helping cover the cost of Alex’s extensive recovery and rehabilitation,” Ms Pring wrote.

The GoFundMe had so far raised $1400 of a $25,000 goal.

Another fund aimed at raising money for Jessica and Giselle’s funeral, as well as education costs for the Greigs’ surviving kids, had raised $55,831 at the time of publication.
