A fundraiser has been launched for popular Gympie teenager Jaxon Robertson and his family after the he was left with serious injuries in a late-night car crash at Wolvi.
Jaxon was a passenger in a vehicle which hit a tree while travelling along Neusavale Rd at Wolvi about 10pm on Friday, October 4.
It is understood the vehicle had been travelling around a bend when it left the road, rolled, flipped upside down and then collided with the tree.
Jaxon was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Family and friends of the Gympie community have now rallied to help with the teenager’s recovery with several shops around the region accepting donations on the family’s behalf.
KD Moto, a Gympie motorcycle maintenance and repairs shop where Mr Robertson was undergoing an apprenticeship, started a campaign for the Robertson family with more than 10 prizes to be won.
In a post on its website Wednesday, KD Moto said the response to their fundraising was so great staff “had to run to the shops to buy more raffle ticket books yesterday afternoon as we had run out”.
A donation box has been placed at Heilbronn’s Friendly Grocer at 14 Duke St, Gympie.
The immediate family declined to comment.
